What can I plant now?

Last year was my first year to have a garden. By the end of the summer I was exhausted from hoeing and canning, and had no idea I could plant a fall crop (and probably wouldn't have if I'd known!). I learned a LOT last year, doubled my garden size this past spring and had a blast using some of the info you folks supplied. I've been reading other posts and am wondering when I can plant mustard and turnip greens (if now, should I water? How often?). I'd also love to plant cabbage because I made kraut and we are ruined on grocery store kraut now. Where do you get cabbage plants at this time of year? I live in a rural area and the local WalMart (my source for everything. Grrrrr!) has an empty garden center. Can I plant broccoli? My asparagus is still green. I read that I should just leave it alone and let it winter over as it is? Is that what y'all do? As you can see I've got lots of questions. Thanks in advance for your advice.
