roots rot on okra

Normally my okra has deep roots this year the plant roots are rotten like it was too wet look like some nematode activity the base of the plant that is in the dirt is pithy and looks rotted any ideas

I had the same problem. On the plants that died first, there were some knotty roots, but on the ones that died last, the roots just looked rotten, slimy. And they did die after a watering. So I hope someone knows what happened. I didn't get as much okra as I wanted.
