Every year, about this time, we have a ton of dragonflies around here. They're not migratory. I believe it's just their life cycle. Most of the year they live in the water as a nymph which doesn't look at all like a dragonfly. Probably, different species, emerge at different times and rates.

In the late afternoon I can look West, across one of our pastures, and see hundreds, if not thousands of them, with the sun glinting off of their wings. It's a beautiful sight, and even more so, because I know they are so beneficial!
