I tried pansies from seeds this year but had no luck. I had a lot of other things going on that pushed the pansies to the back burner, what few I had to come up died from heat and lack of water. The same thing happened with my ornamental kale. Hot weather is not a good time for me to try to start any kind of plant.

Thanks - you did better than me by even starting anything! Every year I have the best of intentions but it seems the only time I really ever start things from seeds is in February in anticipation of spring and summer garden. The rest of the year I never get it done.

If we try it, we were brainstorming about maybe starting them in the house on a lightshelf where they will have the benefit of the A/C. Anyone done that?
