Rootknot Nematodes

I found a small spot of RKN when I was pulling some old Kale plants a while ago. I had RKN in this bed a couple of years ago and tried heating the soil, adding a lot of compost and winter till. I really think the extra compost and winter till did more good than heating the soil, but I had charcoal and lumber scraps I need to burn anyway.

In the background of the picture you can see where I have planted 7 kinds of creole garlic ( where the paper sacks and tags are). The creole was planted on the 14th. Most of the garlic and onions that you can see were planted 10-17.

Cereal rye grass seed that is planted in the fall will grow and extend roots that will entrap nematodes. In March, the grass is mowed(weed eater) and soil turned over. The plant dies & so do the nematodes. Several website URLs confirm this but I can't recall them.
I have plenty of cereal rye seed, that I will share for free.

Dale, thank you. I often plant Elbon rye, and love it as a green manure. I would have planted it again this year but I am not able to till it in. I grew Elbon rye the winter before and after I had Rootknot nematodes, so I don't think it is a cure-all for nematodes. If my back and shoulder heal enough I will be planting it again next winter.

Thank you for the offer to share you seeds. I have some wheat seeds, but I expect it will take the Troy Bilt Horse to till the wheat in also,and I am not sure I will ever be able to run the Horse again.
