Where do you get inexpensive mulch?

We live south of OKC. I always get my mulch from Minics but I don't want to pay the high price this year.

I believe the city of Norman has mulch but don't know if it's available to people outside the city or how it works. Seems like some have mentioned going to pick it up. In Stillwater you can request to have it delivered, and there is no charge.

If you're wanting a lot and not too picky on quality, you can call around to different tree service companies and see if they will drop off a load for you. I didn't have any trouble finding one that would bring me a huge load at no cost at all and he was even nice enough to let me know what kind of trees they would be taking down so I could sort of pick what type I had delivered. If you have this done before the trees leaf out in the spring, there won't be leaves mixed with it. Our city recycling facility also has mulch (I'm in Missouri) but I would have to pick it up myself and we don't have a truck.

Christie's idea is a good one. I got a truck load dumped on my land this week from a tree service trimming trees for OG&E. I could have had several loads, but started worrying about my horses eating it (had to fence it off from them). It looks pretty good, no leaves at all. I will be using it on pathways so it's not as important to me that it looks as good as the pine bark mulch I normally use in my flower beds. The price (free) was great. :)

Midwest City has a mulch pile (chipped tree trimmings) free for the taking. It is not monitored so I don't think they care who gets it. It's on S. E. 15th Street between Douglas and Midwest Blvd., just east of the city vehicle garage. Open 24/7.

Thank you so much to all who have replied.
I think Norman has compost instead of mulch. I'll have to call them and ask. It would be nice to have it delivered too. Thanks again. ~Terry~
