C cristata, a cold grower from the slopes of thew Himalayas, is at it again. I have 3 plants, a compact growing one with the bulbs touching each other which James Rose from Cal Orchids calls grandiflora. A rambling one with 1" to 2" between bulbs and a alba version which has no yellow in the throat.
I have had the C cristat grandiflora (Andy by the way says there is only one, and of course the alba) for at least 5 to 7 years. It has 50 plus bulbs and this is the first time it bloomed. The flowers look identical to the rambling one.
