This is considered to be endangered. It is indigent to Martin County Florida. This plant was collected long before the plant was listed so it is legal to own and be judged etc.
This is almost a nuisance in the Bahamas. It is like a weed there. This plant can be found in Jonathan Dickinson State Park. They were put there several decades ago by the proprietor of Rubens in Orchids. He salvaged them from a very old slave cemetery. They adorned the graves. He did that because the graveyard was being forced to yield to a country club. Thankfully Ruben did what he did.
Ruben thinks they are not natural to here. He thinks there were relatives in the bahamas that brought them to adorn the graves.
The same plant exists bountifully in the bahamas. And they are not on the list. Strange how that works.
I think the State Park has made a cushy project of the plant so they have no interest in the story. And Martin County gets a plant on the list...
