I just got a den.jenkinsii x aggregatum.Anybody can help me how to care for it.It is in bare root condition.I was told that I can grow it in a pot or mount it. I prefer if i could grow it in a pot.In what kind of medium ?
Hi Elizabeth, this orchid has a reputation of being difficult here, hopefully not difficult there. You may have found this picture before but note the shallow tray rather that a pot. I'm only guessing that the potting mixture was treated pine bark. You are still over on the photo gallery, maybe not all look over here. Sorry that i'm not more help, but i've avoided this orchid. Not sure of the names...jenkinsii may be a variety of aggregatum. Dendrobium jenkinsii 'Kusaf' ACC/AOC {{gwi:200938}}
Den aggregatum is a bigger plant, with a large spray of flowers, maybe 15-25 per inflorescence (?).
Den jenkinsii is a much smaller plant, with a short inflorescence and a smaller number of flowers per inflorescence.
I have a small division of D. jenkinsii in a little clay pot in fine bark. I've had mine for less than a year, but it has done very well in the short time I've had it. I let it go without water for about 2 months this winter, and it's about to bloom now. The inflorescence has only two buds on it, but I'm sure it will be cute.
Hi All. Thank you for your info on my little Den.jenkinsii x agregatum. I did pot it in a 3"clay pot,in fast draining medium. I kip my fingers cros and hope that it will live. Cheers Elizabeth
