Jay's says that Baptistonia is a monotypic genus but there are at least 3 species described. It is true that echinata is easily the best known, but I like this smaller version. Like all the Baptistonias the flower spike remains a long time on the plant before opening so may need extra protection from pests. From the Atlantic Forest Rio/Sao Paulo area, so probably less tolerant of cold than echinata.
