Yeh right, took a life time to get this to bloom. I divided it, put it together, hung it upside down, threatened it- what not.
Finally it is in bloom now, hung it with my Schoms and I think it did it- it is all about light !
Marci, thanks for all the support!

A lovely nodosa, well worth the wait. Does it have a clone name?

My B. Nodosa almost died this winter. It seems to want to die. What did you do to get it so healthy. I've had it outside, inside and now in the Greenhouse. What light does it like????????

Arthur, I have had this for so long, if I remember right( the label is broken in half)it is 'Mas Mejor'. Troykd, these like a lot of warmth and lots and lotsa light. I thought I was giving it a lot of am sun, but apparently that did not do it. I found a spot just below one of the Schomburgkia's( which is in full sun 6-7 hrs/day)and this mama plant put out 5 spikes. If it helps, complain to Marci every time her plant blooms!!

What do you have it planted in? I keep mine in baskets with some CHC. You are so right about light. Give them as much as you can and you get those beautiful flowers. I can smell them from here.... Great growing, Jane

Jane, it is in a mix of charcoal/CHC/lava rock combo. I have another one mounted to drift wood- roots are rambling all over the mount. They seem happy to grow, blooming WAS the issue. Marci- I frequent the porch a whole lot during the evenings- between the nodosa and the caularthron bicornutum- I have a fragrance heaven. My DH must be wondering about my activites.... |
