Hi everyone --
The blooms on this plant just opened yesterday, although the spike has been developing since last November! As you can see, it has probably received a bit too much light, and I'm going to try to reposition the mount in my gh so it's a bit more shaded. I would place this species next to Aerangis biloba in terms of hardiness and ease in blooming. It seems to handle higher temps OK, although it would probably do better in the intermediate zone. It's on my cool wall, although on the east side the temps are higher. Hopefully after it's done blooming it'll add another leaf or two!
The spurs are 7-1/2 to 8 inches long, and it has a very nice, sweet floral scent in the evening with a faint medicinal note.
Originally from Oak Hill Gardens.
