Thanks all. I just noticed a new growth - I've probably had success in eliciting new growth in about 20% of all the cymbidiums I have ever owned (all of which are now dead), so I am hoping this one becomes the first keeper. My past attempts have always been in coconut, which seems to either dry too quickly or stay too wet with my casual careless winter watering. I have this in a proper tall pot with a finer but well draining media - lets see how it fares this winter.
