| This is Dendrobium delacourii, a miniature orchid native to Vietnam. I purchased the plant last year and it flowered very well this year with five spikes. Unlike many other Dendrobiums, this one flowers on half grown new growths in the spring/early summer. I give it a semi-winter rest reducing watering from every other day in summer to about once every 2 weeks in winter. Grown in a west window in my home with summer highs near 85 and winter lows near 59. It is not fragrant but the flowers are long-lived. I really like the fimbriations on the lips.

| Inga - I will try to get a closer up zoom of the flowers but my camera isn't good at that. Shirley - This is the best it has bloomed. Last year, after I got it, it only had 2 spikes even though it had 6 new growths. This year it bloomed much better with a spike on 5 of the 6 new growths. One source I read said it has max of 6 flowers per spike...one spike has 9 flowers so I am quite pleased! BN |
