Calanthe triplicate

Intermediate growing terrestrial found in a huge area of the world. From Madagascar to Australia and most of warm Asia. The inflorescence can get very tall, up to 7', I have never seen it that tall. Flowers keep opening from the bottom of the cluster and it will remain in bloom for a long time getting taller and taller. I grow it outside in loose dirt.

Second year in bloom. Got it 3 years ago one plant, now has 4 daughter plants but only the original has bloomed. 2 spikes this year, both from the mother plant. The second cluster of buds just above the leaves. Once all the offshoots start blooming, there should be quite a display of multiple spikes. Does not go deciduous.

Coming into it's own with more flowers open. It will bloom for a long time.

So pretty. How tall is the spike?

It's a hair short of 24" but it keeps getting longer as long as flowers open.

Getting nicer every day.

Finally in full bloom, it's been a month since the first flower opened and still more to come as the bottom ones fade. A rewarding plant.

Beautiful! Sort of reminds me of a Hosta.

Lovely presentation.
I've seen the budded ones at spring exhibitions.
They must flower in summer

It's getting started again. One spike only at this time appears to be taller than last year's.

It's lovely. Wish I could see this in bloom.
