Monca Blanca and the 'Holy Ghost' or 'Dove' orchid

Lycaste skinneri comes in different colors but the white variety, the alba form, is the national flower of Guatemala. I have Guatamalan in-laws that worship this thing. Some of the new hybrid are more stately and larger with fuller form but this is the original. It does not go deciduous and gets watered all year long.

Peristeria elata is the national flower of Panama. The Panamanians worship that one. I would love to have both in bloom at the same time but I don't think this spike will be open while the Monca Blanca is still in bloom. 25" tall at this time. Will post when it opens.

Here is an example of a hybrid which looks just like the skinneri alba but does have something else in it. Lycaste Shinayuki (Frank Hoyt 'San Carlos' x skinneri). It has had numerous flowers this year. One open now, 3 more buds coming. Did they improve on the original? Probably but the species purists will reject it.
