Mislabelled Aerides

Last spring, In Florida, I was thrilled to see Aerides houlletiana for sale. Upon blooming it, I found it was Aerides falcata. Pretty, but not what was expected.
I sent pics to the vendor, and just got my credit today, which is certainly appreciated.
Of course, I plan on using it before too long. If I lived in the U.S., certainly I would have brought (or sent it) over for a refund, as the vendor had first suggested. But living in Canada, I'd be in d-e-e-p trouble if I ever tried to get it across the border!

Hey that is a beauty, my falcata is also in spike. Any fragrance?
I got a mislabeled merrilli, never managed to exchange it.

That's what I call a riot of color. Beautiful.

I've always been curious, how do you get plants back into Canada from the US? Isn't that a major hassle?

I love those colors! Wonderful that the vendor will give you a credit, too. I tend to revisit honest vendors a lot!

Thanks everyone.

Sambac, the fragrance is kinda grassy, with citrus . Sometimes the citrus wins out and that's when I like it more.:)
Kevin, we were in Homestead, and bought orchids from vendors who gave us Phytosanitary papers. We then went to the Fish and Game people at the airport in Miami, who then looked over the plants and issued us CITES papers ( I think they're $35.00 for each CITES paper-a different one for each vendor, not each orchid.

Yeah, it was a bit of a hassle trying to fin d out the proper authorities. But the Fish and Game people were very pleasant.

Sharon, then you must buy from RF Orchids at Homestead. They have a beautiful greenhouse, wih lots of awesome orchids and great staff!

It cost you $35.00 a plant to bring them over? Wow, that's a lot of money.
