bulbophyllum macrobulbum 'magnifico' cce/aos

Yay!

My first really nasty one.

(Almost all the others have smelled nice or were scentless!)

Full photo.

The longest leaf is about 20" from the base.

It's had two previous bloom attempts fail and several new leaves.

The incoming leaves will hopefully stick around, like the last one did.

Looks like summer is over!

Since nights have been droppin' down into the high 30's, most things have been moved back in.

Except for some Catts...

Day trips only!!

Thanks for posting such good pictures of such an interesting bulbo, however I may not bother to add this one to my collection! So the temperature in your part of the world has dropped to the high 30's at night I presume you mean fahrenheit! We have had rather a poor summer this year with the temperature not even making much more than 23'C (75'F) during the day, our night temperature has now dropped to just over 50'F. How nice to be able to grow your orchids outside for part of the year, no chance of that here.

    Thanks for the complement!
I really wasn't happy with the photos, but didn't feel like tryin' again.
My frickin' camera just hasn't worked right since I dropped it!:~(

Last night the temps only dropped to around 40F.
We didn't have much of a summer either. It was late, cool and short.
Without covering parts of the garden, it's been difficult to get ripe tomatoes!:~(

Now, winter is fast approaching and I'm really not ready.
I didn't move many orchids out this year. Only 50 or so, but most stayed inside.
It was mostly the mounts, as it's much easier to water them outside!
I haven't really been that motivated. I haven't even been takin' photos and I've had some of my best blooms this summer!

I've had this one since '06, but it is a very slow grower.
So I've learned to really baby what new growth I get.
    They're precious and easily discouraged.
After several years, it looks to have finally attached to the driftwood.
    It took long enough!;~)

It looks deliciously putrid. Love the rotten-fleshy look of this one - congrats on the bloom :)

    Thanks!
    IT IS completely horrid!!:~)

I let my Boxer Boys have a sniff, today...!
    "Oh yeah!"
    "Let us have it!"
    "Pleaseeeee!"

I had flies, after a move outside, as well!
    Cool! ;~)

    I'm making everyone smell it!
    Heh...heh...heh!
Since one of my Neos is in bloom, as well, they aren't ready when this one hits 'em!!
    Virtually, literally! ;~)

Nice job on your bulbo-GROSS-phyllum !! Remind me NOT to get that one !

Where do you live that is chilling out now ?? Must be North and/or West of me in MD. Today was HOT as Hades ! I didn't venture out until 5:30pm but it DID reach 88F in my orchid area inside the house.
