The Floof Club, part 4

orchidnick

Just like in the Star Wars series, the segments will not appear in order.

This is Cattleya loddigessii, a species from near the coast from Bahia Brazil south to Argentina and Paraguay. I got it from a member of my society who got an FCC with it (?). He claims he never gave out a piece of the FCC but I have seen it and it looks just like this one.

Oh well.

You can smell that thing half way across the room. As soon as my daughters discover it, it will be gone.

Nick, I suggest you put a tracking device in that fragrant, white one's growing medium. That way you'll know which daughter has the loot stashed. Great photos, and great guidance to the orchids' blooming excellence.

It's Halloween and Cattleya deckeri is doing it's annual display. Always at the same time, getting bigger every year.

Another view. A huge plant, I wanted to take a division but the root ball is like a block of cement. I'd need a power saw to cut through it.

Nick, you started this thread with a species orchid. Floofy only applies to despised hybrids AND half way down you have Cattleya Chocolate Drop. Which isnt!
Anyway, mostly lovely orchids and I have no pics to contribute.
Just read through the thread and saw the note about C. White Eagle. It was registered in 1954 and it is still good.

When is blue not blue? Anytime you read an Orchid Catalogue,Laeliinae section. But the orchids above are lovely.
Here are various varieties of Cattleya intermedia in my collection.
Variety aquinii. Many discards where the petals were distorted.
