Cattleya intermedia var aquinii

This opened too late for inclusion on the Orchid Table, but it is an interesting variety. It is actually a genetic abnormality known as a peloric form ie. the color on the lip is repeated on the petals. I'm not sure how stable these odd forms are or whether, if two plants of this variety were crossed, the offspring would all show the same characteristics. This kind of abnormality is quite common in hybrids, but these are usually cloned. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
