I doubt that will help much.

Couple things:

1. Try amending your medium with more inorganic materials such as horticultural charcoal. This will open the medium up and help it dry faster.

2. You might consider buying mounted plants. If you love to overwater, you can't really overwater mounted plants.

3. Also consider the use of LECA (light expanded clay aggregate, used in semi hydro culture, available at hydroponics stores or online) as a medium instead of moss or bark. This dried quickly.

4. Or even try growing in S/H (www dot first rays dot com is the origin). I grow most of mine in it, and its impossible to over water.

The glaze in the pot is a problem, the pot doesn't breath like a non-glazed pot would. Some good suggestions above about non-organic media. Instead of the drilled pipe you can use an upside down 3 or 4 inch net pot. Place in the center of the pot and add some media round it, pot the plant and fill with more media. The net pot would create an air pocket for the roots to dry out sooner.

Thanks I`ll try that, when someone gives you a gift plant they get upset when you don`t keep the pot they gave it to you in, I have a couple that don`t even have one hole in the bottom, shessh makes for difficult orchid growing. Deanna
