| A really cute miniature with very interesting lip details
I tried experimenting with focus stacking, cause I couldn't get adequate depth of field to capture the entire lip. It came out a little funky, but that's what you get when you try to substitute your knee and a pillow for a tripod. |

Calvin, that knee and pillow did a great job! LOL! Call it the martial arts of sock-it-to 'em! I am impressed. LOL, LOL! That is indeed very unique and you captured it perfectly!

OMG, that is absolutely adorable! When you say mini, how big are we talking? I've always stayed away from these thinking they were all on the monster side. Of course, my definition of monster is probably what most folks consider moderate. Kevin

What a cool looking lip. I like some of the coelogyne's, but worried it may be a little too warm down here for the ones that I am eyeing.

Serana - Thanks...a pillow makes a suprisingly decent tripod, actually! Kevin - it's real tiny, about 3-4" tall. It does ramble a bit but I have about 10 pbulbs in a little 4" pot. Puts out new growths like mad Sambac - I grow it indoors intermediate...wonder if it needs a winter drop...here it only gets the normal house hold drop.

Calvin cool-er and dry-er in the winter like a cristata. Brooke

Hey Brooke - thanks for the tip! I'll move it out of the tank and to a slightly cooler location

Great growing! You really should get a tripod Calvin, it makes these close-up and low light shots a lot easier. With one you could have put it on f32 and done a time exposure shot - can be up to 30 seconds, then you wouldn't have had your depth of field problem.

You're right - I could only get it up to f10 with bright lights, and even then I wasn't capturing a fantastic depth of field (although definitely better than before when I was shooting with f2.8!)
