Montreal Orchid Show (ECOS)

It's been 8 consecutive years that we've gone to Montreal for their Eastern Canada Orchid Show. It's a treat to visit this beautiful, vibrant City, and also to see (and buy) beautiful orchids. Guess you can say my roots are there, as my Dad was born in Montreal, and my DH was born in nearby Lachine.

Carol

P.S. I bought the Otaara Jane Fumiye, and the Bc. Marmaid, as well.

Very nice photos. The Lycaste was my fav. I think the lounge music was a really nice touch. : ) Can you tell me what recording that is? I'd love to get it. Naomi

A great show! I'd like to have one of each of those plants.

I can tell you that King of Taiwan really had people oo-ing and aa-ing... what a spectacular and gigantic bloom that was.

And funnily enough I picked up a Marmaid too, and so did several other ECOS members, because tonight at the post-show reunion, there were 3 on the show table. The scent was irrestible.

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks. There were so many more displays, as nice and nicer than the pics you see, but I was not in the mood for photographing. My buying mood, however, was unaffected. :)

Naomi, the tune is called "Midnight and Trish". Don't know if it's available anywhere else, as I downloaded from the midi server on Picturetrail.

Snowpea, also saw the King of Taiwan in another display, but it was a little smaller. The Little Marmaid is very fragrant, and also the Otaara. I asked Howard if I could buy if after the show, and he agreed. That's the "problem" of staying in the same hotel the orchid show is...'way too tempting!

Good purchase choices, Carol. Both my 'Janes' are in bloom and Little Marmaid is looking promising.

Great pictures, Carol, really makes me sad I had to miss it, but I have to say I've fallen in love with the Slc. Ocelot. Do you remember whose it was and whether it was a vendor? Thanks.

I think the SLC Ocelot was Howard Ginsberg's. While Bedford still only indicates phals on the catalogue, I know he's been getting into catts.

Thanks! I think... no, I KNOW I'm calling Howard today. Ocelot is just awesome, and Howard is getting into mini Catts - he's developing a website devoted to them called Orchidporn. (See the available speakers document on the COC website for the address. It's still in the very, very early stages of development.)

Just a reminder to all of you who can make it to Montreal next weekend... This year's ECOS show will be this upcoming weekend, 27-28 October 2007 at the usual venue (Day's Inn, downtown). The doors open at 12 on Saturday to allow for judging (I'm head clerk this year... eeek!) and at 9 am on Sunday.
