One of the rupiculous (stone-growing) Laelias. Wonderful color but not easy, must have very fresh air and strong light incl. some direct sun. Tolerates a very wide range of diurnal temperature. No water until well into spring. I note that this plant from the Brazilian National Exhibition has limestone chippings, which I do not agree with. In its natural habitat it grows in basic (neutral or acidic rock) not alkaline as here.

Lovely blooms, but may be the choice of growing medium can be seen in the condition of the leaves?

Yes, it looks awful doesn't it, but wouldn't you look a bit parched if you had gone 4 months without water? I have seen several rupiculous Laelias in collections that looked better than this, except their owners complained they never flowered! - Ian.
