Cold grower found in Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador. I was not 100% sure of the correct ID but others have confirmed that it is what it's supposed to be. Apparently not all have the brilliant red color.
Just shows how important culture is. This is a cold grower which has landed by mistake on my hot greenhouse where it went right ahead and bloomed. Now it's going to go to the cold house.
I got it with questionable ID, previous owner thought it was an Ada. If you compare the profile of the flower, they have a characteristic protuberance at the bottom back. I think it's a Xylobia, color does not match but many of these species have several color versions.
