This is the first successful bloom for this plant although it has tried quite a few times previously. Usually it makes a seed pod before the bud can form.
Sounds like you got one of the Florida cultivars that self germinates. I have one that originates from Central America. It blooms sequentially for months.
Very nice! I had a Epi. nocturnum that did the same thing. Flower opened one day then faded the next and formed a seed pod. I got rid of the plant. It must have also been a Florida cultivar. Why vendors sell them is beyond me.
