Cyrtopodium polyphyllum aka paranaense

The Cyrtopodiums or cigar orchids are members of the Catasetum group. I found this plant growing in an abandoned garden not far from our new house, though it may well have originally been planted. They are better as garden plants because of their large size which may account for their not often being seen in collections. It is terrestrial. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the "cigars", the fat cigar-shaped pseudobulbs - too much long grass and too many ants!! I'm not 100% sure of the ID. The color of these flowers is greener than others I have seen but other features of the plant do correspond to the description so maybe it is a natural variation. "Paranaense" means from the state of Paraná, which neighbors São Paulo. "Polyphyllum" means "many-leaved" and that was also the case.
