Hi Tucker, is it easy to grow?

Very nice! I have a Rodriguezia lanceolata that I've yet to bloom. How long have you had it? I've read that it can be difficult in the long term. I got mine from Jay Pfahl. It was mounted on a coconut husk and has been doing great. Congrats on your growing skills! Scott

I looked at this and came to the bit where you said "easy to grow", was just about to foam at the mouth because I have had no success with Rodriguezias -and I live in Brazil! - then I noted that you said yours were all mounted. Mine have always been in pots. I think therein lies the root of the problem, if you will forgive the pun. The pic is not too bad by the way. You can get rid of the shadow by draping a bit of black cloth behind the plant or use black cardboard.

Not only is it easy to grow, it's also very easy to propagate - once the new growth has some roots, you just snip the rhizome at the bottom and push it down into the damp sphag around the bottom of the tree fern pole, so that the new roots can grow into the fern, and let it go. The picture was very spur-of-the-moment - I'll follow the recommendation next time and use a black backdrop. Gloria - that's what the specific name "decora" means - pretty!
