That's why I stick to compost tea. I made some weed tea one year and after three days it smelled nasty at fifty feet. Compost tea has next to no smell by comparison.

I would not try a fish emulsion unless I lived way out in the country. How many possums have take up residence?

I dont mind fish smell, but this is not even close. Ill be looking into recipes for compost tea after i recover from this experience. I havent seen any possums and barely any flies which i know sounds completely impossible. But that just shows you just how bad the smell is.....the flies arent even interested!

3 weeks is a hell of a long time to brew up some fish emulsion.

Did you keep it aerated? That can both speed up the process and keep your bacteria colonies from becoming anaerobic heavy.

I use a small fish tank pump with a stick aerator, myself.

If you didn't aerate it, the ammonia smell is a natural byproduct of anaerobic bacteria doing it's thing. Too much ammonia can be phytotoxic, btw.

I love fishing and have thought about making my own emulsion but the more of these threads I read the more I think i will stick with buying it. Kudos for trying.
