mixing fertilizers?

Hello! We moved into our house about a year ago and knowing nothing about lawns, I ignored ours until about November when I thought maybe I should put down some fertilizer. I used MicroLife 6-2-4. Well the place where I bought it is a long drive away so for this spring I found some organic fertilizer at the nearby Lowe's called Medina 4-2-3. I still have about 10# left of the MicroLife...is it okay to mix that in with the Medina so I don't waste it? By the way our lawn is St. Augustine.

More important then the analyses is what are these made of. As long as the material they are made of does not cause foaming or explosions, when mixed together, there should be no problem.

Organic fertilizers are all made of various protein sources. There's no danger of foaming or explosions.

If you want to save a lot of money, check out the ingredients on your fertilizer and visit your local feed stores to buy them. My favorite currently is alfalfa pellets (sold as rabbit food) based on price.

Here is a photo posted here last year by mrmumbles. He fertilized with alfalfa in May and took the picture in June. The lawn is zoysia. You can see the improved color, growth, and density.
