I use sand for everything. What kind of grass do you have?

To raise a low spot in a lawn make an "X" in the turf and roll the sod back and fill in with a good quality soil and then put the sod back. Covering the existing turf with some soil can cause the grass growing there to get buried, loose the access to the sunlight it needs to grow and the grass then dies.

Its bermuda grass.

Kimmsr, I thought about that too. Couldn't I just add seed to the soil once I level it off?

Its not healthy grass right now and pretty bare.

If the area is not a good stand of turf grass then dig in and find out why the soil will not allow good growth, correct that (the soil problem), level as needed, and then reseed (or sod). But find out what the soil problem is, fix that, and then start the grass onto a good, healthy growth regimin.
