Corn Gluten Pellets

I called all Feed and Seed stores in my area and they don't carry Corn Gluten Meal. One said he carries corn gluten pellets and I could grind them to get meal. He charges $5.00 for a 50lbs bag. Would that work? Is it the same just in pellet form? I am disgusted by the big home improvement stores who act as if they really care selling organic stuff now and charging $10.00 for a 3 lbs bag of Corn Gluten Meal. Shame on them.

It should be the same stuff, and I would think it would be just as easy to apply in pellet form. I'd try 'em & see how they work in the spreader, then water 'em in. When I wanted to use alfalfa pellets, they didn't work so well in the drop spreader, but they work fine in my rotary spreader. I can't imagine the CG pellets would be much different.

Corn gluten meal is the by-product of the wet milling of corn to produce oil and syrup. This by-product has been used for decades as cattle feed which is why it is in pellet form. A possible problem using the pellets on your lawn is they are slow to disolve.
