It can be used as a preventative if you want to. I've heard the suggestion of using it at 10 pounds per 1,000 square feet every 60 days. Once the disease is in the yard, then the rate must be bumped up to 20 pounds per 1,000.

I will go ahead and put the cornmeal down now as a preventative. I am having trouble finding it. If anyone out there lives near Louisville, Ky. please let me know where to purchase it.

Go to maps.google.com and in the search field type 'feed store, louisville, ky'. There are probably hundreds in the area. Start calling the ones closest to you and ask them where too find corn meal.

Cracked corn may be used in place of corn meal. It's all corn, equally effective, and easier to spread. The down side is that it remains visible on the lawn a few days so the birds and squirrels are attracted. You may also have a few corn plants sprout but they are easily mowed down or pulled by hand.

Thanks Bill, I have about 10 feed stores to call, and I will ask for Cracked Corn. I will post on this forum in the summer if this helps with the Brown Patch disease.
