Getting rid of my grass

I'm planning on covering 400 square feet of my back yard that I can't mow anymore.Ashma. With Dewitt weed block and then plant some spreading yew or spreading arborvitae by cutting through the weed block , this is my latest thought on getting rid of my grass in the back yard. Any ideas on this?

We don't know where you live to know what ground covers will work. If you lived in Texas I would suggest not using a weed block but cutting the grass out with a power rake. Then plant Asiatic jasmine. It is a low growing, spreading, ground cover with fragrant flowers in the late spring.
