Cottonseed meal & soybean meal are somewhat similar in protein content, but soybean meal (47% protein) edges out cottonseed meal (41% protein) by 6%...... You need to apply approx 14lbs per 1000sqft of soybean meal to be applying 1lb N.......cottonseed meal has also been known to possibly have pesticide residue issues.

But the biggest issue to me, is that cottonseed meal is a real pain in the arse to spread. Soybean meal on the other hand is very easy to use, works beautifully in either an ordinary drop or rotary spreader, almost as easy as commercial synthetic fertilizers.

For these reasons, soybean meal is my feed grain of choice for monthly use on my bermuda.
