Anyone know of a place where I can get them at a reasonable price? I got quoted $30 for 50 pounds. Ugh!

That is ridiculous. My local feed store also went up in price but not that much. alfalfa went from $13 to $17 and SBM went from $16 to $20 per 50lbs. I lucky found a new place near my house to buy grains (through google maps) with much better prices. $12.50-Alfalfa and $17.45-SBM. So definitely call around town and see if someone has a better price. I pulled up google map of New Jersey, then did a search nearby, typed in "feed" and below is a list of the first 10. A

The Bell Meade co-op in Hillsborough carries SBM. I think the price was $14ish per 50lb bag when I bought it a couple weeks ago. You need to call ahead a day or two in advance to tell them how much you need so they can have it ready for you. http://www.bellemeadcoop.com/

I got some corn meal, soy bean meal and alfalfa today at Mike's Feed Farm in Riverdale. $20 for 50 pounds. I know it is cheaper in other parts of the country, but that was the best I could do up here.
