Fungus, but is it bad?

Hi everyone,

We moved into a new house in September of last year. I had a major fungus issue at my old house the July/August before we moved. I ended up using cornmeal and organic nitrogen to treat the fungus. I also aerated the lawn.

I first noticed brown areas of my lawn and then one morning, I noticed the tell-tale fuzzy white residue on the blades of grass that lead me to conclude I had a fungus problem. I'm not sure how effective my treatment was because we moved right after I treated the problem, but the lawn seemed to show improvement.

Anyway, I was taking the dog out this morning at our new house and I noticed the tell-tale fuzzy white residue that looked exactly like what I saw at my old house. The difference is, there is no sign of lawn stress at this point. I wouldn't have known there was fungus had I not seen the white fuzzy stuff this morning.

So now I am freaking out that the lawn fungus problem is back. My new house has a great lawn and wonderful landscaping with a pool, etc. I really want to keep it nice and the thoughts of going to the feed store, spending large sums of money on cornmeal, etc. has got me dreding this problem.

Is there any chance the fungus I am seeing is not harmful? I know good funguses exist and maybe that's what I'm seeing? Or are only the bad funguses visible? I'm trying to figure out if I need to get going on the cornmeal or if I should wait it out and see if any damage develops to the lawn.

Thanks,

Kevin
