It's good for the soil. It's a fast acting high N fert, and it's one of the few organics that can burn. It will benifit the lawn the same as other high protien organics. I have no idea about the application rate. Use it carefully.

Blood meal is a protein and will encourage microbial activity in your soil. The app rate per 1000 sq. ft is actually a little over 7.5lbs if you want 1lb per. It'll turn your grass deeply green.
