I've had good luck with using the vinegar. However I only use it in my mulch and rocked areas so I don't know about damage to the soil.

Oh, add a couple of tablespoons of dish soap to the vinegar before you spray. I've read that it breaks down the cell wall to allow the vinegar to enter the cell better, and it helps it stick to the leaves.

Thanks, J. This is for my mulch beds also, so I'll try it.

Be careful - vinegar will kill the plants you want to keep as well as the weeds. Also, it works better on young weeds or weeds with small root systems. It is just basically burning off the leaves, so anything that regrows from root pieces (dandelions, bermudagrass etc) will probably survive to fight another day.

Maybe I'll just pull them. ;)
