Weed seed in grains?

Hello all,

I have to be honest. I am seriously considering abandoning my organic lawn care efforts.
This will be my 3rd year using organic fertilizers(SBM, Corn Gluten,Cornmeal,compost teas, etc.), and with each passing year my lawn is becoming filled more and more with crabgrass,quack grass, and other unwanted weeds. I never seemed to have this problem when using Scott's. My question is this, is it possible that weed seed may be mixed in with the grains when they are being harvested?? Is there an organic method to ridding my lawn of this ugliness?

There can be "weed" seeds in any grain seeds. While some cleaning is done it may not be enough. To control "weed" growth you need a good thick turf and to get a good thick turf you need a good healthy soil and to get a good healthy soil you need to know something about that soil.
What is your soils pH?
How much organic matter is in your soil?
How well does that soil drain?
How well does that soil retain moisture?
What is the life in that soil?
