Purchase grass seeds now

Anyone planning to overseed this fall should purchase seeds now. I came upon a website that stated Moonlight KBG is in scarce supply for fall 2007. I hadn't checked seed availability in two years and didn't think about it until I found this site by accident. It lists some varieties of practically every species of grass, but that doesn't mean this is the whole list. This list only addresses "varieties suitable for golf courses", so that is somewhat limiting though not much. The only thing I can suggest is to purchase as soon as possible. I'll try to locate a more complete list or if you guys find one, please do share.

Something else to consider is Turf Toes' post about rising seed prices he found with one of the well-known retailers. I checked with two others and found their prices have not risen, but that just might only be temporary. The rest may get the message real soon LOL in preparation for fall.

Do you know where can you get Moonlight KGB online for the best price? I haven't found a local supplier near Lexington, KY.

Angie, if you tell me what other cultivars (hopefully not Moonlight alone), I'll try to find all the purchases from the same place. That way you, you won't have to pay additional shipping charges. And, it will very likely be someplace you have to order from online or telephone. I don't know of any in Kentucky.

Yeah, Mark. What SummitSeed says is true, but I do have to wonder why they have already raised their KBG prices by $2-$3 per pound when no one else has yet done that. I don't doubt that will cause others to raise prices before needed. Plus, they say prices will rise as much as $1. So, I guess that will be added to their current hikes.

Mallory, Do you know a place to get bedazzled at a decent price? As you might remember I want to mix some in with Galaxy blend when I over seed this fall. The price from Summit is like $35.00 for five pounds but what really killed me is they want to charge me $17.00 for shipping and I only live about 60 miles from them. By comparison I ordered 20 lbs of Galaxy belnd through Amazon.com at 52.00/10lb sack and the shipping for the whole thing was only 12.00

Hi Mallory,

I contacted Glenn today. He is a nice person. I asked about the seed that I like. Unfortunately, he told me that 50 lbs is there minimum to get the price you told previously. So, since I only need a few pounds, the price per pound increase to $2 more. So for both, which is 15 lbs, the total is somethat $93 including shipping.
