I have a pretty big front yard that was abandoned by previous owner, and it has only weeds now. I would like to put sod but need to get rid of weeds first. I do not want to use vinegar because of a really big footage. I started to spray vinegar today, sprayed 4 gallons and covered only 1/100 or even less of the yard... I do not have so much time.

Please, help: is any other non-chemical proven way to suppress those weeds? If I topsoil them and then put sod, would they grow throw anyway? Also, I heard about covering weeds with sand - does anybody know about it? Thanks all in advance!
