It should all be the same. I'd post a photo, but it's just a plain brown bag with string stitching to hold it closed. There's not much to see, but at least I get to drive the nosy neighbor nuts because he can't tell what I'm putting down.

Which is actually 100% soybean, it's just that the protein content is 46.5% (or so; could be 47.5% and so on).

Same here. My SBM comes in a generic grain or oats bag tied with string. Doesn't ever say SBM on the bag, I'm guessing the SBM is stored bulk and they just toss it into whatever bag they have laying around when I order it.

I finally got the 3 50 lbs. today for $11.20 each. I also bought two 40 lbs. compost cow/horse manure for $1.85 each. I smelled the compost and doesn't smell bad. Smells like earth dirt. Hmmm, :), where should I apply this compost?

I will post a picture of the soybean meal too. I'm sure that people in the future will ask too. They want to make sure what they're buying.

What does solvent extracted mean? I thought they just ground the stuff up.

Your decision (people hate it when I do that). You can put down small amounts once a month, or larger amounts every two to three. Whatever you prefer. I like small amounts (~7 lbs/thousand square foot) monthly to keep the little critters well-fed and happy. Others go to 20 lbs and do it twice a year.

The easiest way is to let your lawn tell you. When it doesn't look good again or loses color (and not because of heat or lack of irrigation--mine went purple-grey yesterday in 94 degree weather), it's time.

SBM is just fine if that's what you can get. A kick of alfalfa for root growth in fall would be fine, too.
