Algae hurt lawn?

I intend to use water from my rain barrels to water my St. Augustine (just bought a 3/4HP submersible pump to facilitate this - great pressure!!). Both my barrels have algae growing in them....will the algae damage my lawn?

No. It may create problems for the pump, depending on the type of pump you have, however.

Thanks kimmsr for replying. I wouldn't think it would hurt the lawn, but wanted confirmation from the experts here.

I hope not to have any problems with the pump. It is a "dirty water" pump capable of handling up to 1" diameter particles. BTW, a great price of 49.95 at Harborfreight. I am excited to get everything hooked up and finally stop using potable (and chorinated and expensive) water on my lawn.
Thanks again.
