| I will soon start seeding an area just outside the drip line of a very large tree. The tree is already losing many leaves each day and they are being blown onto what will be my newly seeded area.
Will they be apt to smother the new seedlings? If not, would you just wait until the grass comes up and try to rake them off at that point and reseed if necessary? Any advice will be appreciated. |

| Whole leaves, laying on top of a newly seeded area, can keep the germinating seeds from getting access to the sunlight those newly germinated seeds need to continue growing. While mulch mowed leaves are really good for the soil, whole leaves aree not so do what you can to keep them picked up from that area. Raking and mowing would not be a good idea, although gently blowing them off might work. |
