Renovating Lawn

I live in Zone 10. I have a fescue lawn that is in bad need of renovation. It has two different types of fescue sod and some bald spots. It has a "checkerboard" appearance that I find is unattractive. Is there some way I can overseed the lawn to give it a more uniform appearance? It also is part shade and full sun. What type of seed or combinatinons of seed should I use? Would a combo fescue, rye, and KBG seed combo work? Comments would be appreciated!

I wouldn't plant a mix, only the same type of grass you have - the fescue or blend of the fescue. Except, I'd make it varieties to closer match the darker shades of the checkerboard to even out the color. I can't direct you because I don't know what state you live in. I'm afraid I don't know zones and they are too wide a territory for specifics.
