I am gradually winning the war against weeds mostly dallisgrass and crabgrass in my bermuda/zoysia lawn. I mow regularly, before they seed, I pull or cut off the seedheads when I see them, I dig clumps of weeds and put plugs of grass in.

I like the zoysia, and I have the weeds in sort of regions on the lawn. Therefore, they can be dug up and replaced with clumps of zoysia, which I can dig from edges of flower borders.

When is the best time (season) to do this? And any other advice or special techniques to help ensure success?
