Corn Meal, or any of the other grain meals, will get moldy when wet. Most of the molds or fungi that are in this world are not harmful, are beneficial because they help digest the organis matter that would otherwise accumulate and bury us.

An interesting point about the white or green mold that has occured here. Are these molds able to compete with the pathogens that may be killing the grass?

Mold is probably the primary decomposer of the fertilizers we use. Normally we don't see the fuzzies, because we don't irrigate that much. With the rain you had it would not surprise me to see it get fuzzy.

The molds that grow first on corn meal are the ones that attract the big kahuna of molds, Trichoderma. Trichoderma is a predatory mold and the one that kills off the disease molds. So yes, the molds you have now are good in that they feed the system.
