Aeratate or not?

I moved in last February and the lawn looks good right now. I've heard that if you feed the lawn organically you don't need to aerate. Anyway I got my hands on some cow manure compost and milorganite. So I plan on overseeding and than topdressing with the compost and milorganite. Will this plan work or not?

Some people aerate prior to overseeding in order to improve the seed to soil contact. Since you're also planning to top dress with compost, aerating will help get some of that a little deeper in the soil.
