Just planted grass seed... what next?

Hi - I'm new to the forum, and have read the Organic Lawn Care FAQ and many of the suggestions submitted by others on this forum -- thank you!

Last weekend I added some top soil to my mostly bare lawn in Central Florida, and then put down 2/3 bahia grass seed and 1/3 rye grass seed. Already the seeds (I'm guessing the rye) are an inch high. I realize now, though, that it would have been better to enrich the soil with amendments like alfalfa pellets or soybean meal a few weeks prior to putting down the new grass seed.

My question is:
Would it be alright if by mid-October I put down either alfalfa or SBM? Would that hurt the new growth in any way? Or better to wait until February/March, and start with the program of corn gluten meal, then alfalfa and/or SBM applications throughout the rest of the growing season? A soil test is also on my to-do list.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

As long as you do not apply anything thick enough to smother this new grass there should be no problem spreading something in mid October.
